Tuchel appointment as England manager has no impact on ex-club Bayern

Thomas Tuchel's appointment as England manager has no financial impact on his former club Bayern Munich who have congratulated the Football Association on their choice.

Tuchel's original contract at Bayern was until 2025 but he left by mutual consent in summer.

"Things were clear beforehand, so it's not a new situation," Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl told reporters on Friday.

Former Chelsea manager Tuchel was unveiled as successor of Gareth Southgate on Wednesday. He starts on January 1 and has a contract until the 2026 World Cup.

"It's super for Thomas. It's a very good choice for English football. It's dangerous from a German perspective. England with Thomas as coach are a dangerous opponent," Eberl said.

"Thomas is an outstanding coach and knows English football inside out."

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany, the former Manchester City captain and Burnley manager, struck a similar note.

He said that Tuchel is "held in high esteem" in England, "and therefore I am not surprised that he is getting a top job there."
