Ferrari has unveiled its newest Formula 1-inspired supercar, the 2026 Ferrari F80, the sixth in a prestigious line of halo cars, following in the footsteps of the 288GTO and LaFerrari. This limited-edition model will see only 799 units produced, with U.S. deliveries set to begin in early 2026. Featuring a hybrid powertrain, the F80 combines a V-6 engine with three electric motors to deliver a staggering 1184 horsepower.

The F80's internal combustion engine is a 3.0-liter V-6, revving up to 9200 rpm, which marks a departure from its predecessors, the V-12-powered Enzo and LaFerrari. Ferrari has opted for this engine configuration because Formula 1 cars currently use V-6s, and Ferrari aims to align the F80's technology with F1 standards. This 120-degree V-6 produces an impressive 888 horsepower on its own, aided by electric turbochargers for zero-lag performance. The additional 296 horsepower comes from three electric motors, with two driving the front wheels, offering torque vectoring, and one paired with the engine and eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

However, the F80’s power is not its most standout feature. Its downforce is what truly sets it apart, generating an incredible 2315 pounds of downforce at 155 mph. This figure surpasses many other high-performance vehicles, thanks to the F80’s advanced aerodynamic design. The rear wing, with its 11-degree angle in high downforce mode, and the finely tuned carbon-fiber underbody play crucial roles in achieving such remarkable stability and handling at high speeds.

Aesthetically, the F80 defies conventional design norms. Its black mask across the hood and headlights creates an unusual, almost alien-like appearance, steering away from the more common humanoid look of most cars. Ferrari’s design chief, Flavio Manzoni, drew inspiration from sci-fi themes, creating a striking and futuristic vehicle.

The F80 also features a sophisticated 48-volt active suspension system, developed by Multimatic. This suspension balances the need for comfort during normal driving with the ability to manage the extreme downforce at high speeds. The system automatically adjusts the car’s ride height and aerodynamic settings to ensure optimal performance in various driving conditions.

Inside, the F80 seats two passengers, although Ferrari originally considered a single-seater design. The seats are slightly offset, enhancing the driver-focused experience while still offering room for a companion. With a top speed electronically limited to 217 mph, the F80 is a masterpiece of engineering, blending cutting-edge technology, Formula 1 expertise, and Ferrari’s distinct design language.
