The 2024 college football season has been full of upsets since Week Zero kicked things off. A jaw-dropping total of 24 ranked teams have suffered upsets heading into the Week 8 slate of games. Greg McElroy believed more upsets were on the way.

Greg McElroy highlighted a few teams as "Giant Killers" towards the end of a recent episode of " Always College Football ." He put the No. 1 Texas Longhorns and No. 19 Missouri Tigers on upset alert for the weekend.

Texas welcomes Georgia to Austin in a ranked SEC matchup for the ages. The Longhorns are undefeated at 6-0, while Georgia is 5-1, with its one loss coming to the Alabama Crimson Tide in Week 5. The two powerhouse programs have played each other five times before, and Texas won the last matchup in 2019, 28-21.

ESPN BET favors Texas by five points in a top-five-ranked matchup, as the Longhorns lead the all-time series 4-1.

"I think I'm gonna get Georgia's best punch, and I think Georgia goes to Austin and pulls off the upset," McElroy said. "It doesn't feel good because when I watch both teams, the level of execution that I'm getting from the Longhorns is vastly superior to what I've gotten from Georgia, but I do think Georgia's been battle-tested against Alabama and Kentucky. I think Georgia is gonna find a way to somehow go in and shock the number one-ranked Texas Longhorns."

Missouri fell out of the top 10 after losing to the Texas A&M Aggies 41-10 and recovered by beating UMass 45-3 on the road the following week. The Tigers return to SEC conference play with a home matchup with Auburn. Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze is still searching for his first SEC win this season, but McElroy believed the Tigers were on the verge of some good form.

"Missouri," McElroy said. "Do we get a better performance? I don't know. I think Auburn's close. I think Auburn's really close to creating some momentum. This is a got-to-have-it situation for Auburn, so I think they go to Missouri and get the job done."

ESPN BET favors Missouri by four points in a battle of Tigers in Columbia. Despite Missouri joining the SEC in 2012, it has four all-time meetings with Auburn heading in Week 8.

Auburn-Missouri kicks off at noon ET on ESPN, and Georgia-Texas starts at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC and ESPN+.
