(Photo/Forrest Clonts)</figcaption></figure>As Peak Drift Brewing Co. expands its large-scale production facility and distribution center, it has tweaked its plans for a downtown taproom.The brewery is expanding its taproom menu and partnered with Smoked, home of the brand’s microbrewery, to open its official taproom in downtown Columbia.With initial plans to open a taproom in the fall of 2023 at the North Main location, the company has shifted its focus into a large-scale production facility and distribution center, servicing other breweries throughout the state, according to a news release. Peak Drift’s rapid growth as a contract brewing facility and international brand prompted the company to defer its plans for a customer-centric brewery at the North Main facility and partner with Smoked.Over the last year and a half, Smoked has hosted a Peak Drift Patio Party on First Thursday on Main Street that has grown to be a popular event, according to the release. Guests will now be able to choose from the Patio Party menu as the official Peak Drift taproom menu at Smoked. Previously available only during special events, these offerings are now accessible at both the main bar, the Oasis Lounge bar, and the back patio.“Smoked has been the home of Peak Drift’s microbrewery since it opened in 2021, and will continue to act as a hub for one-of-a-kind beverages that will be exclusively available at Smoked,” said Peak Drift master brewer, Jordan Skeen. “Even though our products are available in stores and restaurants state-wide, there will always be something exclusive on the taps at Smoked.”With the addition of Peak Drift Brewing’s taproom menu at Smoked, guests can choose between fine dining and an upscale brewery atmosphere offered on its patio and back lounge, the release stated. Smoked offers 16 taps throughout the restaurant for Peak Drift beverages, along with sales of canned products including the new Delta-9 THC seltzers, and six-packs to go.“Smoked is a family-run business and we have encouraged the back patio to be a place where families and friends can gather, be comfortable, and enjoy every moment, whether casual or a celebratory experience,” states Sara Middleton Styles, co-owner of Peak Drift Brewing Co. and Smoked, in the release. “The mission of Smoked is to be your third-place; you have home and work, but having a third-party space to relax and enjoy time with friends and family is something everyone needs in this day and age. (Photo/City Social)</figcaption></figure>Peak Drift expands product lineThe Columbia brewery has expanded its product line of craft brews to hard seltzers and recently entered the non-alcoholic beverage space with a line of Delta-9 THC seltzers, the release stated. With growing popularity in the last year, the brand began distribution to bars, restaurants and stores across South Carolina.In addition to local growth, Peak Drift was one of the first South Carolina beers to be distributed in the United Kingdom and has recently been picked up by a major UK chain with plans to expand distribution into Denmark and Switzerland, the release stated. The company is committed to supporting the community and promoting environmental health and sustainability by sourcing ingredients from local orchards and utilizing its in-house fruit processing equipment to bring those orchards right into their products, the release stated.The North Main production facility houses state-of-the-art brewing equipment including the only in-house can printer in the state, which services 35 other regional breweries, according to the release. The facility has printed over 4.5 million cans since April 2023, which are 100% fully recyclable and customizable for community partnerships and events.Moreover, Peak Drift is committed to uplifting the region’s craft beer community and local economy by providing contract brewing services to other breweries across the state and beyond. The North Main facility brews over 35,000 beers per week through its partnerships, including Peak Drift’s own production. Products brewed within the facility are directly shipped from Columbia, reaching all corners of South Carolina to Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, the United Kingdom and the Caribbean through its contract clients, the release stated.“At Peak Drift, we are truly doing something far beyond the typical craft brew industry standards, and we are excited to be at the forefront,” Peak Drift Brewing Co. CEO Jordan Styles said in the release. “From our state-of-the-art water purification system there’s only one other like it in the U.S. — to utilizing local orchards for produce and having the ability to purée our produce on-site.
