South Carolina’s Repeat Tour begins on November 4 in Las Vegas. Throughout October, GamecockCentral will profile each member of the team and how she is expected to contribute this season. Today we look at the returning starting forward, Chloe Kitts.

    Chloe Kitts (Junior, Forward, 6-3)
    37 games (31 starts), 9.1 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 1.4 apg, 54.4 FG%

    Player profile
Kitts was arguably South Carolina’s most underappreciated player last season. When opposing teams had strong, physical forwards, Kitts struggled. But she also had standout games against favorable matchups, contributing six double-doubles, providing a nice compliment to Kamilla Cardoso, and putting up generally solid numbers. Kitts moves well without the ball and is a good shooter and passer. And nobody can question Kitts’ toughness.

    Preseason assessment
Kitts added almost 15 pounds of muscle between her freshman and sophomore seasons. She has continued to get stronger, but with her slender frame, she will never have the strength to bang with power forwards. But as Kitts reminded everyone in the exhibition against Memphis, when she recorded 15 points and 13 rebounds, her ability to move without the ball and find the right spot is elite.

Burning question: Can Kitts become a consistent contributor?
The Chloe Kitts Experience could be summed up entirely by last year’s Final Four. In the semifinal against NC State, she went scoreless with four rebounds and barely played in the second half. Against Iowa in the championship, Kitts had 11 points, 10 rebounds, and two assists and was crucial to building and maintaining South Carolina’s lead. Providing consistent contributions is the next step for Kitts, and the biggest improvement she could make.
