Dallas radio hosts fire back at Jerry Jones

The radio host who went viral after Jerry Jones threatened his job earlier this week said Thursday the Dallas Cowboys owner suffered “an all-time bad loss” as a result of the incident.

The Cowboys suffered a humiliating 47-9 defeat at home Sunday to the Detroit Lions. In Jones’ weekly appearance Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan’s Shan & RJ show, host Shan Shariff asked a reasonable question about the Cowboys’ lack of offseason moves. An angry Jones told Shariff , “Your job isn’t to let me to go over all the reasons that I did something … that’s not your job. I’ll get somebody else to ask these questions. I’m not kidding.”

Jones took heavy criticism in the NFL community for his comments, and Shariff briefly addressed the incident on Wednesday’s show, stressing that Jones does not pay his salary .

But Shariff and co-hosts RJ Choppy and Bobby Belt addressed the incident in more detail on Thursday’s show. Belt said Jones outburst made him look like a “little man.”

“I don’t think he likes his importance being diminished,” Belt said (via The New York Post ). “He doesn’t like having that happen … It was universally received as what a little man … I can’t imagine he wanted that, but I think he just got angry and snapped and it was received poorly. It was dominant, what Jerry said, and I don’t think he anticipated that.”

Shariff and Choppy both called Jones remarks “cringey,” and Shariff noted the exchange, “sounded even worse listening back.”

“So he went in trying to be tough toned but still snapped within that, that’s probably what happened,” Shariff said. “Because what he did with the threatening part is an all-time bad loss for him with the way it was received.”
