Chicago Sky star Angel Reese revealed that a fan scorned her after she refused to sign an autograph when they showed their allegiance to Caitlin Clark .

The WNBA pair have been locked in an intense rivalry since their collegiate days before resuming their on-court friction on the professional stage. Indiana Fever point guard Clark, who was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 Draft, recently was crowned the Rookie of the Year as she edged out her contemporary for the prize.

However, the warring duo experienced memorable maiden campaigns in the WNBA, with both setting new league records during a landmark year. Now, Reese has revealed that fans have waded into the debate over who is the better player, including one disgruntled enthusiast who turned their ire on the Chicago ace.

  • Sabrina Ionescu's damning assessment of New York Liberty corrected for Minnesota Lynx win
  • 5 WNBA free agents could join Caitlin Clark including star who rejected Angel Reese offer
  • Recounting one occasion where she refused to sing an autograph for a fan, she revealed that events turned ugly as the individual hurled insults at her. Looking back over the episode while speaking on her 'Unapologetically Angel' podcast , she said: "Sometimes I be busy, like I can't sign everything.

"One man was like, 'That's why you not Rookie of the Year. And that white girl is better than you'," she continued, as she admitted to guest GloRilla that she was left bemused by the fan's antics, adding: "I'm like ok, you wanted me to sign your thing and now you don't like me no more?'

Reese also went into detail about the relationship she has with Clark as she asserted that she felt the rivalry between the pair has been a positive for the growth of the women's game. She said: "Me and Caitlin have been playing against each other since we were kids.

"It's just a full circle moment of how women are viewed when it comes to trash talking and it's okay, in men's sport. So we're going to normalize that in women's sports as well. It's just super competitive."

Expressing her hope that she eventually gets to share the court with Clark as a colleague , she added: "I think we're two great competitors. We brought a lot of fans to this league, and I thought, we're going to continue to do that and one day, hopefully we can be teammates."

Her rival has expressed her admiration for the Sky ace too, having spoken in glowing terms about Reese after her season ended prematurely through injury. She said: "It’s definitely sad anytime you see anyone go down with an injury, especially people that you came into this league with, whether it’s Cam [Brink], whether it’s Angel.

"Especially Angel, you want to see her finish out this year. Obviously, she’s had a historic year, and she’s done some incredible things. For me, getting to play against her, her motor is up there if not the best in the league, she just doesn’t stop working."

She added: "Congratulations to her, I thought she had a tremendous year. I thought she came into the league and really did what she’s done well her entire career as long as I’ve known her. So it’s definitely devastating; it’s never anything you want to see from a player."
