Let’s recognize and applaud their invaluable contributions: President Keith Parsons, Vice President Dory Masefield, Mandy Blanton, Tara Cruz, William Fanos, John Garcia, Robert Howe, Daniel Mahoney, and Thomas Maslanka.</p><p>The New York State School Boards Association recognizes this week because a board of education is essential for ensuring that our public schools remain adaptable and responsive to the specific needs of their local communities. Serving on a board of education in New York State is a distinguished honor, as it entails one of the most significant responsibilities any citizen can shoulder: shaping the education of our community’s youth. School board members serve as the guiding force behind their local school systems, ensuring that public schools remain flexible and attuned to the needs of the community.
