WASHINGTON — TWO NY METS FANS who served the U.S. Navy got to see their hometown team win across the continent. Brooklyn native U.S. Navy Capt. Robert Uniszkiewicz, M.D., MPH, became a Mets fan the day he was born. He is stationed with the North American Aerospace Command and U.S. Northern Command office of the command surgeon, focusing on health protection division for public health threats. During his time serving Naval Hospital Bremerton in Washington state, Uniszkiewicz bonded with retired Navy Senior Chief Culinary Specialist Submarine Kevin Flatley. Last year, they traveled to Oakland to watch their team beat Athletics in 2023, with the Mets sweeping the California team, 17-6, 3-2 and 4-3 in that series. To top it off, Uniszkiewicz snagged a foul ball.
