Jay Cutler was reportedly arrested for driving under the influence in Tennessee.
Cutler, 41, was arrested on Thursday, October 17, and along with a DUI, he was arrested for “failure to exercise due care, violation of implied consent law, and possession of a handgun while under the influence,” TMZ reported on Friday, October 18. The former NFL star was booked into the Williamson County Jail, but hours later he posted bond for $5,000.
Cutler proposed to Kristin Cavallari in 2011 and they went on to officially tie the knot in 2013. However, their marriage was not always an easy one. Fans saw the Laguna Beach alum discuss some of the rougher aspects of her and Cutler’s marriage during a 2019 episode of her former reality show, Very Cavallari.
“Jay has been great, yes. From the outside, like, things are so perfect and things are so great,” Cavallari, 37, confessed. “But actually, like, they’re not. And that sucks. It sucks. That’s the thing, though, with marriage — it’s ups and downs. Right now we’re in a low, but in two months we could be up here again. And that’s how we’ve always been, our whole relationship. It is what it is.”
“With great sadness, after 10 years together we have come to a loving conclusion to get a divorce,” Cavallari shared via Instagram on April 26, 2020. “We have nothing but love and respect for one another and are deeply grateful for the years shared, memories made, and the children we are so proud of. This is just the situation of two people growing apart. We ask everyone to respect our privacy as we navigate this difficult time within our family.”
The former couple finalized their divorce in 2022.
Cavallari, 37, has been open about the troubles she and Cutler experienced in their relationship and she once said that divorcing him was the “best decision she ever made.”
“It was not a decision that I made overnight, obviously,” Cavallari told Emily Tisch Sussman during a July 2022 episode of the “She Pivots” podcast. “I really sat on it for a long time. It was the scariest decision I’ve ever made, but it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made for myself. And that’s not to say that it hasn’t been really hard the last few years.”
Cavallari and Cutler share three kids, sons Camden, 12, and Jaxon, 10, and daughter Saylor, 8, and while the former Very Cavallari star was “sad” about their family breaking up, she still said she was “really happy” to close that chapter of her life.
“When you create a family with someone, it’s sad to not have that anymore,” Cavallari continued. “I actually had this conversation with my kids two days ago. You know, it’s OK to be sad, I get sad about it sometimes still. But I had to do what was best for me and for my kids, honestly. Because I want my kids to see me happy.”
