Phillip Vogt, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Fire Department.Firefighters were initially responding to a cardiac arrest call in the Valley when they saw the smoke, Syracuse Fire Chief Michael Monds said.When firefighters arrived at the home, they saw fire spreading from a second-floor porch fully engulfed in flames. Additional units were called in to help.Firefighters stretched hoses down the driveway and worked to put out the fire in multiple rooms on the second floor. While doing so, the fire quickly spread into the attic.Firefighters searched the home for people, but it was determined everyone was able to get out, Vogt said. Two kittens were rescued from a back room, he said.One firefighter was treated at the scene for minor burns, Vogt said.It was determined that the fire started on the second-floor porch.
