WNBA Insider Reveals Best Options For New Caitlin Clark Teammate

For the last two years, the Indiana Fever received manna from heaven after landing the No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft.

The team used it to select forward-center Aliyah Boston in 2023 and guard Caitlin Clark in 2024. Safe to say, things worked out for the Fever.

Boston and Clark, along with veteran Kelsey Mitchell, transformed Indiana into a dangerous contender this season, reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

With their breakthrough campaign, the Fever weren't part of the lottery anymore for the top selection in the 2025 WNBA draft. Instead, they will pick at No. 8 — their lowest since 2017.

It's highly unlikely that the Fever would land prospects like Connecticut's Paige Bueckers and USC's Kiki Iriafen at that spot. But there could still be plenty of solid options.

IndyStar's Chloe Peterson listed five players who could be a good fit for the Fever, namely UCLA's Janiah Barker, LSU's Aneesah Morrow, Notre Dame's Maddy Westbeld and Sonia Citron and North Carolina State's Saniya Rivers.

"Fever president Kelly Krauskopf has emphasized the need for experience in the starting lineup, and you don't get that in the draft," wrote Peterson. "Expect the Fever to prioritize a veteran forward at the four spot in their starting lineup."

Peterson added that the Fever could use their No. 8 pick in a trade package to get a more seasoned addition.

Mitchell is set to test the waters in free agency, while starting forward NaLyssa Smith is rumored to be on her way out after three seasons with Indiana.

The Fever also own the No. 20 and No. 33 picks in next year's draft.
