(Area) Fisheries crews across the state are evaluating the walleye stockings that took place last fall or this spring.

John Lorenzen, Fisheries Biologist with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, said they evaluate those populations to see if those fish survived in any number and what size they were.

As for stocking, Lorenzen said Lake Manawa should be getting approximately 8,000 advance fingerlings (which are 9 to 10 inch fish) this fall. He said Adair County has a special fund to buy fish from a private fish hatchery so Mormon Trail is going to get 1,200 Walleye, Lake Orient – 1,000, Nodaway Lake – 700, and Greenfield lake – 1,200.
