Joseph Malinowski, Known as Lt. Dan, Arrested for Ordinance Violations; Boat Impounded

TAMPA, FL – October 18, 2024 – Joseph Malinowski, better known as "Lt. Dan" on the internet for riding out Hurricane Milton in a boat, was arrested today. According to social media posts from his manager, @checkthestar, Malinowski is being held without bond due to two failures to pay and a generic ordinance violation.

Court records indicate that Malinowski, under case number 24-CM-011297-A, is facing misdemeanor municipal ordinance charges punishable by up to 60 days in jail. His booking was processed earlier today by the Tampa Police Department under booking number 2024-34814. The arrest follows a warning he received from a Tampa Bay officer last week to move or register his boat, which was captured in a video.
