Dodgers called 'possible favorite' to land $200 million slugger

The Los Angeles Dodgers already have a star-studded roster.

Los Angeles led Major League Baseball with 98 wins in the regular season, and that was despite having a plethora of high-impact injuries hurting the roster. The Dodgers seemingly weren't fully healthy at all this season, and yet they are just one win away from the World Series.

While this is the case, Los Angeles hasn't gotten to this point by sitting back. The Dodgers have been aggressive each offseason in recent memory and likely will be again this winter with the shortstop position one that could use a boost.

Because of this, the New York Post's Jon Heyman called Los Angeles the "possible favorite" to land Milwaukee Brewers star shortstop Willy Adames with a deal that could approach $200 million in free agency.

"People around the league see the Dodgers as a possible favorite to land star free-agent shortstop Willy Adames," Heyman said. "Dodgers bigwigs Andrew Friedman and Brandon Gomes had him at Tampa Bay.

"Adames has been a frequent trade target of the Dodgers, Braves, and (San Francisco Giants), and Atlanta also could use him now, but with a $200 million-plus price tag, he might be pricey for them (they let their own longtime (shortstop) Dansby Swanson go for $177M to the Chicago Cubs)."

This isn't the first Los Angeles has been linked to Adames, and likely won't be the last after he clubbed 32 home runs and drove in 112 runs in 2024. Shortstop is a real position of need for Los Angeles, and Adames could be that guy.
