Severe drought continues to expand across northeast Iowa, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor for the state. Based on precipitation through 7 am Tuesday, October 15th, all of Bremer County, almost three-quarters of Chickasaw and Fayette counties, southern half of Winneshiek County, eastern third of Butler County, and southwest third of Allamakee County are rated in the D2 category for severe drought. Severe drought also now shows up in the southeast corner of Floyd County, with the remainder of the county in the D1 category for moderate drought.
