NFL Analyst has a blockbuster trade proposal that would bring one of the offseason's hottest free agents to the Lions

Man, the trade proposals for the Detroit Lions won't stop flying in after the team lost Aidan Hutchinson to a broken leg against the Cowboys last Sunday. Here's another one that is absolutely huge and would bring one of the biggest free agents of the offseason to the Lions.

The 33rd Team's Tyler Brooke wrote a piece suggesting five edge rushers the Lions could trade for before the November 5th NFL trade deadline. He had some of the usual suspects like Haason Reddick and Azeez Ojulari, but then he swung for the fences on a trade that would bring Jaguars Pro Bowler Josh Hines-Allen to the Lions. Here's his suggestion:

Lions get: Josh Hines-Allen
Jaguars get: 2025 second-round pick and 2026 second-round pick

Wow! Ok, there's a lot to unpack on this one. The first big thing is that the Lions could have had a chance at Hines-Allen this offseason when he was arguably the biggest free agent option at his position. The Lions didn't bite on a deal with him and that's partially because the Jags made sure to lock him down quick with a five year, $141 million deal. That is a lot of lettuce.

Could the Lions even make this trade? Like, are they financially able to? The answer there is yes. The Lions could absolutely make this deal happen. They have the draft assets to trade and they have the money to take on the contract. The problem is that if they were to do this deal, they're going to have a hard time getting Hutchinson a much bigger deal this coming offseason and they're going to have some trouble signing Jameson Williams, Derrick Barnes and Kerby Joseph to extensions too.

It's not to say that the Lions can't swing for a big time edge rusher, they just shouldn't swing for the second highest paid guy in the league. Especially just a few months after he signed that deal.

On top of that, while the Jaguars are really bad right now, I don't know why they would move off of Hines-Allen just a few months after making him one of the highest paid defensive players in the league. I think it's safe to say they like him. The much more doable move for the Lions would be to trade for Hines-Allen's teammate Travon Walker.
