Karrion Kross has cleared the air on rumors he had legit heat with a former WWE SmackDown superstar.

At WrestleMania 40, Kross teamed with Akam and Rezar to take on Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits. This was a Philadelphia Street Fight with Bubba Ray Dudley as the special guest referee. Lashley and the Street Profits emerged victorious.

Prior to the match, rumors swirled of a beef brewing between Kross and Lashley after “The Almighty” appeared to be dismissive of the match ahead of WrestleMania . As it turns out, both men were in on the hoopla.

Karrion Kross Says There Was Never Heat With Bobby Lashley

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet during a recent sit-down interview, Karrion Kross was asked if he had any issue with Bobby Lashley being dismissive of their WrestleMania 40 match. That is when the truth was revealed.

“I hate that I’m saying this, but zero. It was a work,” Kross revealed. “He knows I feel this way about him. It’s not the first time I’m saying it, and unless you would’ve asked me about this I would’ve never said it, I love that dude to death.”

Kross went on to explain that both he and Lashley were simply trying to put some juice behind their match on the “Grandest Stage of Them All.”

“On the way to that Mania match, Bobby and I were constantly trying to find ways to intensify the conflict,” Kross said. “Respectfully, we just felt like there were certain things on the way there that were redundant. It’s not me being salty about anything, it’s just him and I want to give. We want to make this as intense and as crazy as possible.”

Lashley was so invested in creating a buzz for the Philadelphia Street Fight that Kross said the former two-time WWE Champion tried staging a brawl outside of TV.

“There was even one time Bobby was like, ‘You know what we should do? All these guys, they like to talk and they like to run to the dirt sheets and stuff. Dude, we should fight at the beginning of the show. We should get in a fight because all these guys are gonna go and call the dirt sheets and tell them that we actually had a fight and it’s gonna stir people up into what we’re doing on TV.'”

Kross talked Lashley out of the idea, mentioning a possible scenario where no one breaks up the “fight.” He also told Lashley that the two could’ve risked being fired.

Additionally, Kross claimed that Lashley wanted him to do a running powerbomb out of the ring and onto a table. While Kross praised Lashley for being willing to put his body on the line, he’s glad he didn’t go through with the spot.
