Bay Area arrests made in connection to San Leandro homicide

SAN LEANDRO, California — Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a June 2023 homicide in Unincorporated San Leandro, according to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office. Devin Stevenson and Ebony Cook were apprehended by Bay Area Rapid Transit Police on warrants for murder and accessory after the fact, respectively.The case began on June 15, 2023, when deputies responded to a shooting at the skate park near the REACH Ashland Youth Center. The victim, 23-year-old Darrion Johnson, was found with a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene. The Crimes Against Persons Unit conducted a thorough investigation, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants for Stevenson and Cook.The Alameda County Sheriff's Office expressed gratitude to the BART Police Department for their assistance in locating the suspects and to the Alameda County District Attorney's Office for pursuing charges.
