Moore was still relatively new to bass when he first joined, but Moore and The Willis Twins played at many venues and festivals.“This past year we got to make our main stage debut at Poppy Mountain,” said Moore. “Being from Kentucky and loving bluegrass, that is kind of a big deal for me.”Coming from a family of musicians, Moore has always had an interest in music.“My dad played electric [bass], my uncle was in a bluegrass band called Josh Sloan and Coaltown,” said Moore. “I have always enjoyed hearing a bass, especially in a bluegrass band.”Moore said he remembers the key moments in his life that inspired him to start playing bass.“The one I heard first was probably Barry Bales, he played with Alison Krauss at Union Station,” said Moore. “So, he is probably the guy I heard first playing and kind of got me into it.”Over the years Moore gained many fans and friends through the genre, Ron Fannin being one of them. Moore said Fannin and him bonded over their love of bluegrass.“I have a playlist with some bluegrass on there and I kept noticing him commenting on that music. Come to find out we were both probably bluegrass fans,” said Fannin. “He was doing some bass lessons and looking for a bass, so we got closer that way.”Fannin said he watched Moore and The Willis Twins perform at this year’s Poppy Mountain Music Festival in September.“It just seems like every time we hear that band, he’s in they just seem to be tighter and better,” said Fannin. “Ryan as a bass player, you can tell he’s come a long way in the short time he has been in the band and playing.”Moore and The Willis Twins are currently working on their second album.
