The Ohio State Buckeyes are off to an impressive start in their 2024 college football season, led by two of the best receivers in the game: Jeremiah Smith and Emeka Egbuka.

The true freshman Smith has been making headlines, but Egbuka is also having a great season, leading the team with 40 receptions and second with 526 yards and six touchdowns. That comes after a disappointing junior season, when he managed only 515 yards and four touchdowns.

Egbuka had an impressive sophomore year with 1,100 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Egbuka's stellar start to the 2024 season has him projected to be a first-round pick in the latest CBS Sports mock draft. According to the projection, the Atlanta Falcons would pick the talented receiver with the No. 29 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

CBS Sports' Josh Edwards believes the Falcons wide receiver room is thin. He suggests that Egbuka could assist their $180 million quarterback, Kirk Cousins, and also benefit their future with rookie QB Michael Penix Jr.

The Falcons boast a potent passing attack, currently ranked sixth in the NFL for passing yards per game. However, only three of their receivers have recorded more than 250 yards this season. Drake London and Darnell Mooney are the only two players with more than 300 yards.

If this mock comes true, Egbuka could enhance an already powerful passing attack.
