Mark Robinson Fires Back at Diabetic Voter for Asking About Insulin Costs: ‘Nobody Came to See You’

North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson was recently captured on video telling off a diabetic voter concerned about the price of insulin.

In the video — which was posted online Friday by American Bridge 21st Century — Robinson was speaking at an event in a room full of people. While talking Robinson heard a beep from somewhere in the room and identified it as a glucose monitor.

“Somebody’s blood sugar’s low,” Robinson joked as many in the room started laughing. “I know that sound. Somebody’s eating too many French fries in here. They look good. I might join you.”

When the laughter died down, someone off screen said to Robinson, “When are we going to make diabetes supplies more affordable?”

“As a type-1,” the person continued, “I’d like to spend less than $800 [on] a box of insulin. Why don’t you try pushing through legislation on that?”

Robinson responded by claiming, “We might try to do that” and assured the person that “your legislators will write the bill and pass it.”

The person then pointed out that Republicans have “all voted no” on legislation to lower costs.

“I don’t know whether or not I agree with that wholeheartedly,” Robinson said. “You’d have to show me where Republicans refuse to let people pay less for medicine.”

The person said someone else that couldn’t be understood, and Robinson told the man that “nobody came to see you” and to “please be quiet.”

Robinson’s response was met with encouragement from the crowd.

Before being asked by Robinson himself to leave, the person claimed that the candidate doesn’t “want to answer good, hard questions.”

Others in the crowd began to jeer the person before the video ended.
