Emmett Smith Jordan Jr., 79, of Rockingham, formerly of Campobello, South Carolina, passed away Friday, Oct. 18, 2024 at his daughter’s home in Rockingham.

He was born March 22, 1945, in Wilmington, son of the late Emmett Smith Jordan Sr. and Molly Watkins Jordan.

Emmett proudly served our country in the United States Navy. During his working years, he was an electronic engineer, sales coordinator as well as owning his own telecommunications company in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Emmett loved water and fishing. He spent a lot of his life traveling the USA for work and personal. He was a big dreamer- always looking for good ideas for business. He spent his retirement years working his farm and growing gardens. He loved to laugh and was a jokester. He was almost always the optimist and never liked anyone being negative. The sky was always the limit.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Christa Eiselen Jordan; brothers, Bernie Jordan and Carl Jordan; and sisters, the Rev. Susie Blackburn, Janie Inman, Bernice Owens and Alliene Morrison.

Left to cherish Emmett’s memories are his children, Emmett Scott Jordan of Rockingham, Cammie Jordan Lassiter (Joey) of Bolivia, Tracy Jordan Coble (Wayne) of Rockingham and Elizabeth Jordan Healey (Jace) of Spartanburg, South Carolina; grandchildren, Holli Coble Nunn, Dustin Wayne Coble, Adien Knight, Jacs Healey, Anna-Elise Healey, Heather Lassiter Lutz, and Kristyne Lassiter Barron; great-grandchildren, Kamlyne, Maverick and Ryker; and sister, Wilma Jordan Spencer (Charles) of Ellerbe.

A service to celebrate Emmett’s life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Place of Grace Church, Rockingham, with the Rev. Alex Perakis officiating. Entombment will be held privately by the family at Serenity Gardens Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Place of Grace Church, 252 School St., Rockingham, NC 28379; or Richmond County Hospice, 1119 N. Hwy. 1, Rockingham, NC 28379.

Harrington Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the Jordan family.
