Teoscar Hernandez Absolutely Adores Fenway Park

Teoscar Hernandez really wants to play for the Red Sox. Too bad Boston cheaped out in the offseason and now he’s on the verge of potentially winning a rin in LA with the Dodgers. The Red Sox offered Hernandez two-year deal worth $28 million but the veteran outfielder ultimately inked a one-year deal with the Dodgers instead.

Hernandez, 32, will be a free agent again this offseason. He admitted in a recent interview that he loves Fenway Park, which once again ignites a flame of Hernandez clearly wanting to play for Boston.

Baseball Isn’t Boring podcast VIA WEEI:

“Everything about that field is good,” Hernandez said. “And I don’t think it’s only me. I’m not the player who is saying that about Fenway. The atmosphere over there is really good. The fans love the team. They go to the ballpark. And they support the team. For me that’s a big thing when you have a good fan base. But it’s been great here. Fans love this team. They go everywhere and they support their players. It’s going to be a little hard for me in the next free agency. It’s going to be fun, and obviously I’m going to try and make the best decision for me and my family.”

Teoscar Hernandez Would Mash In Fenway Park

There is one potential problem if the Red Sox want to acquire him this offseason. The Dodgers have the option to use the qualifying offer worth $21.05 million if they want to. Boston just might do the same with Tyler O’Neil. If LA does use the QO, Boston would lose a draft pick for signing him.

Boston clearly needs to add a right-handed bat and acquiring a player coming off a 33 home run season would surely do the trick. It also makes no sense why they didn’t just go ahead and sign him last offseason, but that’s a story for another day.

Who knows how the Dodgers will handle the upcoming contract dilemma with Hernandez? However, it sure sounds like Hernandez has enjoyed his time with the Dodgers and would have no problem staying with the team.

“It’s a little better than I thought it would be,” said Hernandez of his time with the Dodgers. “Obviously, I learned a lot in the couple of months I have been here. It is a wonderful organization. It’s been a blessing. The things that I have learned in these couple of months … I have learned to be a better player and a better person. It’s been great.
