There are evacuations underway in the Oakland Hills as a 4-alarm fire is burning. With high wind conditions, it is worrying many people in the area.

The brush fire started on Friday afternoon in a wooded area near 1-580. It was reported by KTVU channel 2 that it is near I-580 and Keller Avenue.

In an eerie coincidence, on October 19-20, 1991, what was called the firestorm whipped through the Oakland Hills, melting cars and destroying homes like matchsticks. Since then, many things have been done to prepare the area to make sure that it never happens again.

Right now, the cause of the fire is not known. On the Oakland Fire Department X page (formerly known as Twitter), they state that it has burned 8 acres so far and 4-5 buildings have been affected.

Campus Dr. and Crystal Ridge Court have mandatory evacuations in place. People in the surrounding areas state they are getting warnings on their cell phones.

Northern California is under a red flag warning until tomorrow at 5 p.m. The Oakland FD says that over 80 firefighters are fighting the blaze right now.
