Task Force 10, composed of squads from both cities, evacuated people, performed rescues, and conducted welfare checks during their deployment.Task Force 10 is one of seven search and rescue teams in North Carolina. Their recent missions took them to Polk County, Richmond County, Rutherford, and Chimney Rock. "We're very familiar with a lot of flood water in eastern NC, but we weren't really familiar with mudslides," a team member said. "For us to go out to the western part of the state and help them out, it was kinda rewarding for the rescuers to give that back."The team utilized boats and other equipment to assist K9 units and navigate through water. Fire Department Chief Brad Johnston noted the collaborative effort, saying, "Teams from as far away as Washington State helped with the rescue efforts."Reflecting on the experience, a team member shared, "One thing I found interesting was looking at previous pictures to what we saw." Another added, "We were talking to one of the guys about Florence, and I didn't know he had just lost his house, his business, everything, and he was out there helping us search and make sure everyone else was okay."After nearly two weeks without contact with their families, the crews expressed relief and happiness to be back home.</div></body>
