( NewsNation ) — The mother of 3-year-old Wisconsin boy Elijah Vue, along with her partner, was charged with child neglect and abuse that led to Vue’s death .

The Manitowoc County prosecutor announced the charges Thursday. They build on earlier charges of child neglect, with the new ones specifying that the abuse and neglect led to Vue’s death.

Vue’s remains were found in the woods by a hunter more than six months after he was reported missing .

Katrina Baur , Vue’s mother, is being charged with chronic neglect of a child where the consequence is death, child neglect and obstructing an officer.

Her partner, Jesse Vang, is charged with physical abuse of a child involving repeated acts that cause death, hiding a corpse and obstructing an officer.

Vang reported Vue missing, telling authorities he last saw the child at 8 a.m. and had fallen asleep and found him missing when he woke up.

Prosecutors say Baur sent Vue to Vang to have Vang “teach” him how to be a man and discipline the toddler. She had reportedly left the child with Vang for extended periods of time before.

The new court documents say that when asked about Vue’s behavior issues, Vang said he wore his sister’s dresses and walked on “tippy toes,” while Baur said he was aggressive and stole from the store.

The documents also show records of text messages and Facebook messages between Vang and Baur that appear to show Baur instructing Vang on what to say to police.

In the complaint, prosecutors say that while Vang told police he was at home watching a movie the night before he reported Vue missing and his cell phone data supported that, video surveillance showed him driving his car at the time.

The complaint also reveals that authorities found evidence of serious head wounds on Vue’s body that were partially healed, indicating they had happened at least several weeks before his death.

Baur and Vang both pleaded guilty to charges in the earlier case. Both are currently being held in jail.
