Oregon Star Ruled Out with Injury Ahead of Friday Night Matchup Against Purdue

The No. 2 Oregon Ducks are riding high after a significant victory at Autzen Stadium last Saturday against the Ohio State Buckeyes . However, they must now shift their focus to the 1-5 Purdue Boilermakers .

Although Purdue's record may not impress, they nearly defeated No. 22 Illinois last weekend and hold the record for the most top-five upsets as an unranked team, with 17 victories. You can never count them out in their home stadium.

The Ducks will also be without star pass rusher Jordan Burch for the second consecutive week. he suffered what was said to be a lower body in a practice prior to the matchup against Ohio State. Oregon head coach Dan Lanning didn't reveal any further details on the injury this week.

Burch is a crucial asset to the defense and has arguably been their best defensive player this season. The Ducks will also be without tight end Terrance Ferguson .

It makes sense for Oregon to hold Burch out an extra week, especially with two top-25 ranked teams on the horizon if he’s able to return soon.

Despite Purdue's history of pulling off upsets, they are still 30.5-point underdogs according to DraftKings Sportsbook —a significant hurdle for any team trying to achieve an outright win. However, with their recent quarterback change, they looked like a different team last week.

Quarterback Ryan Browne stepped in for Hudson Card and completed 18 of 26 passes for 297 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing 17 times for 118 yards. He’s a competitor, and the Ducks don’t have much tape on him.

Nonetheless, Oregon aims to remain unbeaten, and they'll need to do it without their pass rusher Jordan Burch. Given that they just pulled off their biggest win in program history last week, they certainly have the capability to make it happen.
