GULF SHORES, Ala. ( WKRG ) — Officials at the Gulf Shores International Airport have appointed a new airport director.

According to a GSIA news release, Jesse Fosnaugh, A.A.E., ACE, is the new director and comes with more than 18 years of airport management experience.

GSIA is working to transition from a general aviation airport to a commercial airport and officials said that Fosnaugh’s background makes him the ideal candidate to lead the transition, according to the release.

“Jesse’s extensive experience in airport management, particularly his success in growing commercial service airports, aligns perfectly with our vision for Gulf Shores International Airport,” said Gulf Shores Mayor Robert Craft.

“His strong leadership skills, combined with his commitment to building strong relationships with stakeholders, will be invaluable as we navigate this exciting new chapter.”

The release said Fosnaugh not only has experience in airport management, he has also served as an adjunct professor of aviation along with leading multiple airport education tours.

Fosnaugh has a Bachelor of Science in aviation science and administration from Western Michigan University and is scheduled to graduate with a master’s degree in Airport Management from the University of Central Missouri in December 2024, according to the release.

“I am thrilled to join the Gulf Shores International Airport team and contribute to the airport’s exciting growth and development plans,” said Fosnaugh.

“I look forward to working closely with the Airport Authority, the City of Gulf Shores, and the FAA to make this vision a reality.”
