Bulls guard could end up on Cavaliers this season, new report predicts

The Chicago Bulls have a surplus of guards on their roster, and a couple of them are going to be traded sooner or later.

Zach LaVine and Lonzo Ball are the most obvious candidates to be dealt.

LaVine’s been the subject of trade rumors for years at this point, and Ball is finally healthy again, meaning that he could be playing himself back into a commodity before February.

At the same time, neither LaVine nor Ball are easy sells. LaVine’s $138 million remaining is a lot for any team to take on, and most franchises will steer clear of Ball due to his injury history, even if Ball excels between now and the deadline.

Chicago might have to dip into other areas of their backcourt depth to reshuffle the roster.

With Josh Giddey appearing to be Chicago’s selected point guard of the future, Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu become the next possible moving pieces in this discussion for the Bulls.

Dosunmu is still underrated by most casual fans, but NBA GMs are aware of his value, including Koby Altman of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Altman might prepare an offer for Dosunmu in the next few months. Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes recently listed Dosunmu as one of the three most likely trade targets for Cleveland this season.

“Dosunmu shot 40.3 percent from deep and bumped his scoring average to a career-best 12.2 points per game last year,” Hughes said. “If the Cavs include some second-round equity, they might be able to steal the 24-year-old from a Bulls team that can't realistically expect to extend him off his current $7 million salary.”
