Mike Tomlin Reveals Who Makes Steelers' Starting QB Decision

The Pittsburgh Steelers will face the New York Jets for their second primetime matchup in three weeks on "Sunday Night Football."

Throughout the week leading up to the matchup, the Steelers have had to decide on a starting quarterback for Sunday and the weeks ahead. After Justin Fields started Pittsburgh's first six games, Russel Wilson was confirmed to be fully healthy earlier in the week. Wilson had been out since the start of the season with a calf injury.

When speaking to the media on Friday, coach Mike Tomlin was asked how much he was consulting offensive coordinator Arthur Smith for the quarterback decision. But in case fans are wondering … Tomlin made it clear that he alone was making the decision.

Tomlin also said that the Steelers had come to a decision on a starter for Sunday, but they were keeping it "in-house."

However, the plan to keep the starter decision "in-house" seems to have already been foiled. After practice on Friday, receiver George Pickens told reporters that he had been putting in extra work with Wilson because "this is his first start."

While Tomlin could be keeping the decision from his players, it would be an odd decision to lie to the team's top receiver about who will be throwing him the ball on Sunday night.

With Wilson now in-line to start, and Tomlin confirming that he made the decision, the pressure will be on both of them to win this weekend and in the coming weeks.
