Scott Schwartz (nicknamed Scotty) had been working in the entertainment business for many years at the time he starred as “Flick” in A Christmas Story in his mid-teens. His appearance as the happy-go-lucky child who attempted to lick a frozen pole on a dare (but ended up screaming in pain after his tongue got stuck) is one of the most memorable scenes in the film.

However, as Scott aged in the business, he saw less acting work by the time he reached his late teens. He also developed a disinterest in the industry due to its discrimination against former child actors who attempt to continue their acting careers as adults. While Scott was no longer the innocent child who tugged at the hearts of avid ‘Christmas Story’ fans, he experienced rejection so overwhelming that he quit the industry and had to find another way to survive.

An Inside Look at His Life and Career as a Child Actor

Scott was born on May 12, 1968, in Sacramento, California but was raised in Edgewater, New Jersey. He started in the entertainment business in the late 70s and gained the attention of industry professionals. By the mid-80s, he attended the Professional Children’s School where he studied acting in New York City.

Eventually, Scott landed a starring role alongside Richard Pryor (1940-2005) and Jackie Gleason (1916-1987) in the feature film The Toy in 1982, around the same time he won the role as “Flick”. In later years, he reprised his 'Christmas Story’ role in the 2022 sequel A Christmas Story Christmas as the adult, middle-aged version of his legendary character.

All About His Stint in Triple X-Rated Films

Scott entered the adult film industry and worked as a manager behind the scenes. Soon, he decided to get in front of the camera and starred in various softcore films. The transition was shocking to his fans because they still viewed him as Ralphie’s cute, lovable ‘Christmas Story’ friend. However, Scott isn’t ashamed of his participation in triple X-rated films. He also doesn’t have any regrets about his choice and simply views it as a life experience that resulted in a valuable lesson he had to learn.

Why He Left the Adult Film Industry to Live a Normal Life

By the late 90s, Scott grew tired of the adult film industry. He felt ripped off because he wasn’t being paid what he believed he deserved. Additionally, he was vocal about the shady practices in the industry.

Scott quit porn in 1999 and went on to work as a celebrity-based card creator and trader. He also obtains celebrity autographs to sell on digital auction houses and online marketplaces. In addition, he's a celebrity poker champion, the co-founder of a multimedia entertainment company, and a philanthropist. As an advocate, Scott speaks up about the rights of child stars who have been exploited and violated in the industry.
