California's Scenic Highway 1 Repairs Near Rocky Creek to Include Overnight Closure

Caltrans will continue emergency repairs on Highway 1 near the Rocky Creek Bridge, 12 miles south of Carmel, following a March slipout that damaged the southbound lane.

As part of ongoing construction, a full overnight closure of Highway 1 is scheduled for Thursday, October 24, from 10 PM to 6 AM. Daytime travelers should also expect intermittent 20-minute delays over the next two weeks as crews work on the southbound viaduct.

The project is expected to be completed by summer 2025, with Gordon N. Ball, Inc. overseeing construction. Despite some closures, most of the Big Sur coast remains open and accessible.
