Hoda Kotb is getting ready to celebrate her first Halloween living in the suburbs, and her plans are surprising even her Today co-host Jenna Bush Hager .
At first, the two talked about how their families were not cooperating with their costume plans, with Bush Hager sharing that she wanted to do a matching costume with her 5-year-old son Hal , but “it’s not happening so I need to change my costume and I don’t know what that is.”
Kotb shared that she’s in a similar predicament, as her 5-year-old daughter Hope was initially going to be a pumpkin with her but has since changed her mind. “I was teaming up with her because she wanted me to, and now she has abandoned me,” she said, revealing that she’s still going to wear the onesie “because it’s cozy.”
She then detailed her plans for the holiday, and Bush Hager was taken aback at the former city dweller going all-in on the ‘burbs.
“We used to go trick-or-treating at CVS and the dry cleaners,” said Kotb before continuing, stating that her children “thought trick-or-treating was walking into a store and having the lady behind the counter put something in your bag.”
Kotb said her new town is full of over-the-top lawn decorations and loads of activities for children, like parades. She's even gone so far as to plan her own Halloween event, describing an upcoming pumpkin carving party that she’s going to host for her community.
“You’re doing a party where you’re inviting people to pumpkin carve?” Bush Hager asked in disbelief. “You don’t even like pumpkins!”
Kotb then shared that the party will be on a Wednesday, prompting Bush Hager to say she feels “like I don’t even know you” for hosting a children’s party on a weeknight. She then spoke directly to the audience, telling the camera “Hoda did not socialize, and now you’re queen bee!”
“I can’t even believe what I’m doing right now,” said Kotb in agreement.
