DIY defeated the Street Profits and Pretty Deadly. With the win, Ciampa and Gargano get a bit closer to a #1 contender spot. The win had an air of controversy as both the Profits and DIY pinned a member of Pretty Deadly, but only DIY pinned the legal member.
Lash Legend knocked off Piper Niven in impressive fashion.
Motor City Machine Guns won their SmackDown debut. They defeated A-Town Down Under and Los Garzas, and are now one match away from a title shot.
Candace Lerae and Nia Jax defeat Naomi and Bayley. There was a significant assist from Indi Hartwell. Nice to see Indi and Candace back on TV, for sure.
Best Match Of The Night:
I would say it was neck and neck between the two triple threat tag matches. That said, I give a nod to DIY/Profits/Pretty Deadly.
But if I am being honest, the opening and closing Bloodline segments were the top two.
Noteworthy Moments:
Big opening segment, with none other than Jey Uso coming out to go face to face with the new Bloodline. Interesting for sure, considering on this past RAW , Jey said no dice to his twin. But it was very interesting and surely foreshadowing. Jey was telling Solo to stop it, he admitted that the OG Bloodline knew to avoid Jacob and the Guerillas of Destiny. But he said that the next time little brother sees him, he will be very different. Sounds ominous. Perhaps some Uso war paint coming back sooner than later?
Roman and Jimmy arrived, and of course Jey was right by where they parked. It was tense and awkward, but Roman then grabbed a departing Jey to tell him that the OTC was proud of Jey-that the whole family was. Something tells me those words will eventually pay dividends, perhaps by the end of the show. The only thing missing for this segment? One of the two saying “at least he is here”.
Motor City Machine Guns are officially signed (hours before the show), not like it was a huge surprise.
Holy Sh!@ Moments:
Did not have Lash Legend defeating Piper Niven on my bingo card, but she did. And was decently impressive in the process, if I am being honest. Lash is an imposing Superstar, and she showed impressive power in lifting and slamming Niven in an unconventional way.
Kevin Owens had a better segment than Cody Rhodes , right after Cody’s. Saying he feels disappointed and hurt by how things have gone and maybe he won’t be back. Amidst his legit contract discussions (which are trending positive), this is a nice path for him. Randy Orton then saw Nick Aldis and demanded KO at Crown Jewel . Aldis said he couldn’t do it, per orders from above. Orton knows he’s going to need to phone a friend-Triple H.
Carmelo versus Andrade gets a guest referee for their “Game 7”, LA Knight . Should be a fun one, and I’d bet some small amount of (not my) money that it somehow ends up giving us a triple threat for the US title.
It could just be me, but I felt like we had a lot of commercials and commercial breaks during matches, versus wrestling substance.
Solo telegraphed the final segment. Comes out in the open in a suit, comes out to confront Roman-who is in street clothes-in his trunks.
Highlights:
The Bloodline saga continues. No idea what inning we are even in now, but it’s good, getting better. Jey was there, but not involved-even as the crowd chanted for him. Jimmy was dragged out, Roman was laid out. And we are heading to Philly for RAW (ECW ties for Heyman) and Brooklyn for SmackDown (Paul Heyman’s backyard). I feel like if Reigns and Jimmy don’t have backup next week, they will at least have a Wise Man on their side.
After The Final Bell:
That was a really good SmackDown, but not based on matches. Yes, the matches happened. A few were good. But the Bloodline saga is heating up once again. Fans want Heyman back. They are ready for Reigns and Jimmy to get backup. And before we know it, it will be time for SmackDown to begin hyping WarGames.
solo most sh*t very no and you no the fun's and world's all eyes look Damm fool saga continues no idea what inning we are even in now. but it's good, getting better. jey was there not involved even as the crowd chanted for him Jimmy was dragged out roman was laid out and we are handing to Philly for raw (ecw for ties for ( Paul Herman's backyard ).I feel like if reigns and Jimmy don't have backup next week ,they will at least have a wise man on their side ..
