Pete Alonso powered the New York Mets to a 12-6 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 5 of the National League Championship Series, keeping their season alive. Alonso's three-run homer in the first inning set the tone, and Starling Marte contributed with four hits and three RBIs. Francisco Alvarez also snapped out of a slump, helping the Mets score five runs in the third inning.

Though New York took an 8-1 lead, starter David Peterson struggled to finish the fourth inning. Dodgers rookie Andy Pages hit two home runs, and Mookie Betts added another, narrowing the deficit to 10-6. However, relievers Ryne Stanek and Edwin Díaz shut down the Dodgers, securing the win for the Mets.

Jack Flaherty, who had dominated Game 1, was ineffective for Los Angeles, allowing eight runs in just three innings. With the series now 3-2, the Mets head to Los Angeles for Game 6, with Sean Manaea likely to start for New York.
