In Tuesday’s (10/15) WXOW (La Crosse, Wisconsin), Crystal Flintrop reports, “The La Crosse Symphony Orchestra is debuting its 126th season Saturday with the sounds of Paris and the Romantic Age. The La Crosse Symphony Orchestra is performing pieces from Hector Berlioz’s passionate rendition of the Shakespearean tale ‘Romeo et Juliette.’ ‘A beautiful piece. People will recognize it. If you ever watched the movie, you’ve heard this piece before,’ La Crosse Symphony Orchestra Executive Director Eva Marie Restel said. ‘It rarely comes to our stages. So this is the other feature of our concert on Saturday.’ They will also be playing Wagner’s Rienzi Overture and Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 2 in G Minor featuring Lucille Chung. ‘Lucille Chung … is an amazing pianist from New York City,’ Restel said. ‘This is the first time that she’s been on stage with us and we’re excited. We’re really excited that she gets to be here.’ The performance starts at 7:30 Saturday evening in Viterbo University’s Fine Arts Center…. The evening will start a little early with a pre-concert lecture with the conductor and a special announcement.” Alexander Platt is music director of the La Crosse Symphony Orchestra.
