A new traffic control route was developed by the Borough to better manage vehicle and pedestrian traffic during special events that close Main Street and Lincoln Way in Downtown Chambersburg. The new route strives to ensure safe pedestrian access during Downtown events while providing efficient detour routes for vehicle operators to travel north, south, east and west around the event. See image below.</p><p>The new traffic control route was tested during Old Market Day in July and will be employed again during Applefest on Saturday, October 19, 2024. That event will close Main Street and Lincoln Way from 6:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. The Chambersburg Police Department will provide traffic control with assistance from Borough Special Event Monitors.</p><p>The Borough respectfully requests that pedestrians and vehicle operators abide by the new traffic control route and cooperate with Police Department Officers and Special Event Monitors that are charged with managing the route during Downtown events.</p></div></body>
