Greg McElroy Predicts Electric College Football Upset This Weekend

ESPN analyst Greg McElroy shared some interesting takes on his most recent "Always College Football" podcast . The college football guru believes a handful of upsets are on the horizon in Week 8.

Some of the biggest games of the Week 8 slate include No. 1 Texas versus No. 5 Georgia, No. 7 Alabama versus No. 11 Tennessee and No. 8 LSU versus Arkansas.

McElroy focused a great deal of his discussion on the matchup in Austin, Texas. He believes this may end up being the biggest game of the season, given its ability to shake up the SEC, if the Bulldogs were to win.

Despite Georgia heading into the game at 5-1 and Texas being unscathed at 6-0, McElroy is siding with the Bulldogs.

He believes Georgia will pull off the upset since they are a "battle-tested" bunch.

“I think I’m going to get Georgia’s best punch and I think Georgia goes to Austin and pulls the upset," McElroy said. "I do think Georgia’s been battle-tested against Bama, against Kentucky and I think Georgia is going to find a way to go in and shock the Texas Longhorns.”

According to ESPN BET , the Bulldogs are a 5-point underdog heading into the game. This marks the first time Georgia has been an underdog since the 2021 season.

Georgia is headed by quarterback Carson Beck, who's posted 15 touchdowns and 1,818 passing yards with a 67.9 completion percentage.

As McElroy explained, Beck and the Bulldogs have also been battle-tested, which may give them the edge over the Longhorns. Georgia's biggest game of the season was a 41-34 loss to No. 4 Alabama, while Texas' biggest game was a 31-12 win over No. 10 Michigan.

Not only do the Bulldogs have a player like Beck, but they also have stars on defense like linebacker Jalon Walker, who's recorded 1.5 sacks and 22 total tackles this season.

The Bulldogs have the chance to completely change the rankings after Week 8 and McElroy seems to think that will certainly be the case after they knock off the No. 1 team in the country.
