Kansas State got back on track after the bizarre loss at BYU with wins over Oklahoma State and Colorado to get into the Big 12 Championship race.
This is the second road game in a run of three away dates in four, but Iowa State and Arizona State are still on the slate.
West Virginia got dropped by Iowa State last week, but that’s the first loss in the Big 12. The rest of the schedule isn’t awful, but the net two games are at Arizona and Cincinnati. If the team is going make a statement in the conference title hunt, it has to be here.

It starts by stopping the run, and that’s not easy against a Kansas State attack that hit 215 yards in every game but the win over Colorado.
The Wildcats will get their yards, but the Mountaineers have held up well allowing fewer than 80 yards on the ground three times and only allowing more than 200 to Penn State and in the win over Kansas.

West Virginia can’t let Kansas State dictate the tempo early.
The Wildcats are too good on the ground and too effective at moving the chains, so this doesn’t work unless West Virginia gets on the board fast and can force mistakes. It’s 2-0 against FBS teams when forcing two takeaways, 0-3 when it doesn’t.
Again, BYU is the only FBS team to force multiple takeaways against Kansas State.
