Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) - A burst of fall color will be on display across the Buffalo Niagara region through the weekend and into the work week as fair and warm weather dominates the forecast.

High pressure will remain draped over or just to the south of our area right through early next week, National Weather Service forecasters say. This will provide our region with a prolonged period of fair, dry weather, along with a continued day-to-day warming trend that will result in temperatures climbing to unseasonably warm levels for Sunday right on through early next week.

Despite a chilly and foggy start to Saturday in spots, high temperatures ranging from the mid 60's across the higher terrain to the upper 60's and lower 70's across the lower elevations are in the forecast.

The wave of warm continues into the second half of the weekend, forecasters say, with highs in the upper 60's to lower 70's on Sunday, followed by even warmer temperatures Monday and Tuesday with highs in the 70's. A few spots may even reach 80. Normal high temperatures for this time of year are in the mid to upper 50's putting the area some 15-20 degrees above normal.

The extended stretch of fair and warm weather will finally break down late Wednesday, with even some lake snow showers in the forecast for higher terrain Thursday.

The forecast calls for seasonably cool conditions with highs averaging in the lower 50's for Thursday and Friday.
