Michael's eventually shuttered their Rt. 9 Fishkill location, operating out of a spot on Osbourne Hill Road in Wappingers before <a href="https://hudsonvalleycountry.com/fishkill-restaurant-to-become-new-sport-bar/">closing for good</a> during the heart of the pandemic in 2020.</p><p>Following Michael's initial departure, a new-to-Fishkill restaurant called Whistling Willie's II operated in the former Michael's Fishkill Plaza location. They <a href="https://wrrv.com/popular-fishkill-restaurant-closes-doors/">closed up shop in June of 2016</a>, surprising patrons with an announcement that indicated it would be their last week in the Fishkill storefront, and that they would continue focusing on their Cold Spring Location. Shortly after their Fishkill closure, the Cold Spring location followed, shuttering in January of 2020.</p><h2>Kanoon Restaurant to Open in Fishkill Plaza</h2><p>A new-to-the-area restaurant will soon open in the vacant storefront in the Fishkill Plaza, prepare to welcome <a href="https://kanoonrestaurants.com/">Kanoon Smoked Meat and Steakhouse</a><b>.</b></p><p>With existing locations in New Jersey and Virginia, Kanoon just (within the past few days) soft opened a second Long Island location, and are preparing to expand into Connecticut and to the Hudson Valley here in Fishkill. Kanoon is noted as having been the first halal smokehouse in New Jersey:</p><blockquote><p>We have carved a niche for ourselves by offering a tantalizing blend of American BBQ with a Middle Eastern twist.
