Report reveals Steelers’ quarterback plan for Week 7

The Pittsburgh Steelers have refused to confirm their quarterback plans for Week 7, but a new report revealed which direction they are going against the New York Jets.

Russell Wilson is expected to start at quarterback for the Steelers on Sunday, according to Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network. However, while Wilson is expected to receive the bulk of the snaps, Justin Fields is still expected to receive some snaps.

The news about Wilson is not a surprise. While the Steelers have declined to make the official announcement themselves, one of their players more or less did it for them . Fields having a role is interesting, and it suggests the team might still want to take advantage of his running ability in certain packages.

Wilson has not played this season due to a calf injury that has lingered since preseason. Fields has gone 4-2 as starter, but has not played great by his own admission . He has completed 66.3% of his passes for 1,106 yards, 5 touchdowns and just 1 interception, but a lack of big plays and risk-averse strategy have prevented the Pittsburgh offense from being particularly explosive.
