    11-year-old boy hit by car while crossing street in Novi, airlifted to Mott Children’s Hospital: report

    WIXOM (WWJ) A young boy was hit by a car while crossing the street in Novi, according to a report.

    FOX 2 Detroit reports the 11-year-old and his 14-year-old friend disobeyed a “Do Not Walk” signal while crossing Wixom Road south of Grand River, near Catholic Central High School, on Friday afternoon (10/18). A driver struck the younger boy.

    The report said the driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

    After first responders initially rushed the 11-year-old to Detroit Children’s Hospital of Michigan, a helicopter airlifted him to Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor; according to FOX 2 Detroit.

    The 14-year-old was not hurt, the report said. Police have not released information on the younger boy’s condition.
