‘I take full accountability’: Patriots’ Christian Barmore apologizes following incident with Providence Police Department

He said he's already met with officers in person to apologize for his actions.

Three days after Christian Barmore accused police of racially profiling him, the Patriots defensive tackle apologized for his actions in a post on X.

reportedly acted in a “belligerent” and “aggressive” manner when Providence police officers pulled him over early Wednesday morning. He said he was driving 10 mph and that they approached him for “no reason.”

“I just experienced for the first time 5 Providence cops being very unprofessional racism at it’s finest,” Barmore, 25, posted on X at 1:22 a.m., according to the The Boston Globe. The post was then deleted.

Saturday afternoon, Barmore said he’s had a chance to “deeply reflect” on his behavior.

“I want everyone to know that I’m sorry and I take full accountability for my actions,” Barmore wrote. “I apologize to the Providence Police Department , my teammates, and my family. My mother was a police officer and I understand the pressures related to their job. Which I didn’t make any easier by reacting in the manner that I did.”

Barmore said he’s using the experience as an “opportunity to learn and do better.” He said he’s already met with members of the Providence Police Department to apologize in person.

“It is my hope that they accept my sincere apology,” Barmore wrote. “That meeting is just the first step of many that I am taking on the route to self improvement.”
