Two matches on the road in two days? No problem for the Nebraska volleyball team, which beat Ohio State (25-18, 25-18, 25-16) on Saturday for the Big Red’s second sweep of the weekend.

The Huskers have now won 15 consecutive matches and move to 18-1 on the season (8-0 in Big Ten play). Saturday’s victory is also the team’s 13th sweep of the year.

Nebraska and Ohio State traded points early but after an ace gave the Buckeyes a 7-6 lead, the Huskers rattled off six straight points to jump in front and never looked back.

The Buckeyes had eight hitting errors in the frame and hit just .093 compared to the Huskers’ .414.

The second frame was a similar story, with Nebraska grabbing a slim early lead before getting some separation with a 5-0 run roughly midway through.

Six more Buckeyes hitting errors, plus a service mistake, helped the Huskers coast to another set win. The Big Red also totaled five blocks in the frame, more than Ohio State had all match.

The third set was domination from the get-go. The Huskers won 10 of the first 11 points and held the Buckeyes to a .146 hitting percentage, cruising to a win.

For the match, Nebraska hit .373 compared to Ohio State’s .145.

Harper Murray again led Nebraska with 14 kills; Merritt Beason added 13 kills and a match-high six blocks; Bergen Reilly had a match-best 39 assists to go with 11 digs; and Lexi Rodriguez tallied a match-high 22 digs.

The Huskers now head back home to prepare for Illinois on Friday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. That match is set to start at 7 p.m. and will be on BTN+.
