CARTHAGE, Mo. — The 58th Annual Maple Leaf Parade brought thousands to Carthage this morning.

The parade kicks off the last day of the week-long Maple Leaf Festival.

Some marked their spots along the route as early as yesterday to make sure they had prime viewing.

This year’s parade saw more than 180 floats, taking nearly an hour to complete the route.

It was broadcast live on KSN, with Living Well’s Gary Bandy and Shelby Neely hosting.

Carthage Chamber President Julie Reams says the parade helps to energize the town ahead of the holiday season.

“The streets are lined with people, just loads of loads of people. The square is packed. It smells good up here. The vendors are going, the shops are open. It’s just such a great energetic feel this morning,” said Julie Reams, Carthage Chamber President.

The Maple Leaf celebration continued throughout the day with car and tractor shows, as well as live music on the square.
