The Cowboys took the loss 14–24 and will return to Laramie with an ugly 1–6 record. Today’s loss was not for a lack of effort, especially on the defensive side of the ball. On top of three fumbles from the Spartans quickly picked up by the Cowboy defense, the Pokes had a big day catching interceptions. (Wyoming Athletics Twitter)</figcaption></figure>Starting Wyoming quarterback Evan Svoboda was a little over 50% with his passing, which is better than his season throwing percentage of just under 50%. Backup QB Kaden Anderson also got some minutes today in the fourth after it became clear a Cowboy comeback was not possible. With his field time, Anderson was 36% passing, though he did complete a pass to tight end John Michael Gyllenborg in the final minute of game time for a 63-yard touchdown. The two quarterbacks would pass for a combined total of 310 yards. On the receiving end, Gyllenborg reminded Wyoming fans today why he is the leading receiving player for the Cowboys this season. #84 would receive 137 yards, while wide receivers Chris Durr Jr., Will Pelissier and Tyler King would catch a total 53 yards, 49 yards and 43 yards, respectively. Where it went wrong for the Cowboys, though, was arguably that the offense couldn’t make use out of what the D was giving them. Thanks to the aforementioned turnovers from San Jose State, Wyoming was in possession of the ball nearly double the time that the Spartans were in the first half. Despite that, the Cowboys did not lead for a single second of the game. Terrible conversion continues to plague the Cowboys offense. As the box score displays, those receiving yards did not convert into points. Wyoming now stands with just Utah State University in the bottom of Mountain West Conference standings. Fittingly, it is the very same Utah State that Wyoming will play next weekend back in Laramie. The Aggies come to fight for their first conference win at the War Memorial Stadium in Laramie at 5 p.m. Oct. 26. The game will be available to broadcast through the CBS Sports Network.
