    4 area teams claim girls high school district cross country crowns

    St. Ursula, Perrysburg, Genoa and Ottawa Hills were among the teams securing girls district high school cross country championships Saturday.

    Division I

    Findlay district

    FINDLAY — St. Ursula claimed the team crown, winning the tiebreaker against Tiffin Columbian with the higher finishing sixth runner after each posted 44 points.

    Also qualifying for regionals was third-place Findlay (86 points). Fremont Ross (92) and Scott (214) were fourth and seventh, respectively, at Owens Community College’s Findlay campus.

    Columbian's Grace Blonde was the top individual with a time of 19 minutes, 43.88 seconds.

    St. Ursula's Sophia Pennywitt (20:17.46) was second. Aubrey Diller (seventh, 20:46.49), Brielle Kalb (10th, 20:49.70), Kylee Diller (12th, 20:59.77), Eden Thomas (13th, 21:06.95), Audrey Geletka (14th, 21:08.71) and Claire Harrison (15th, 21:08.96 ) also finished in the top 15 for the Arrows.

    Natalie Gutman was eighth (20:47.76) to lead Findlay. Fremont Ross' Kennedy Walker (fourth, 20:29.82) and Sophia Metcalf (11th, 20:57.26) advanced individually with top-12 finishes.

    Liberty Center district

    NAPOLEON — Perrysburg (22 points) was the team winner. Bowling Green (79), Southview (111), and Notre Dame (113) also claimed regional berths at Leaders Farms.

    Northview (116), Anthony Wayne (134), Whitmer (144) and Clay (206) were fifth through eighth.

    Perrysburg's Ava Beeks (18:13.9) was the top individual with Whitmer's Lily Good (18:37.4) second. Natalie Sanders (third, 19:06), Lexi Schultz (fourth, 19:13.4), Kaelyn Becken (sixth, 19:15.9), Brayleigh Becken (ninth, 19:28.9) and Carly Friar (10th, 19:37.4) also finished in the top 10 for the Yellow Jackets.

    Lilly Downey (seventh, 19:21.6), Kate Scarletto-Scholl (13th, 19:55.5) and Natalie Neeson ( 14th, 20:10.7) led Bowling Green.

    Juliette Turner (fifth, 19:13.9) and Lily Duran (15th, 20:16.1) paced Southview.

    Springfield's Autumn Sowinski (eighth, 19:23.2), Notre Dame's Tessa Hoyt (11th, 19:54.6) and Anthony Wayne's Kendall Fieweger (12th, 19:55.1) and Sophia Sarkisian (16th, 20:17.6) advanced individually by being among the top 16.

    Division II

    Findlay District

    FINDLAY — Genoa was the team champ with 44 points. Eastwood (68), Norwalk (82), Lima Shawnee (109) and Liberty-Benton (112) also were among the top five, earning regional spots.

    Otsego (129), Mansfield Madison (202), Fostoria (232), and Lake (234) were sixth through ninth at Owens Community College’s Findlay campus.

    Eastwood's Leah Emch (18:49.11) was the top individual. Lima Shawnee's Jenna Stump (19:01.56) claimed second.

    Liberty-Benton's Madi Gaerke (19:47.45), Maumee's Arriana Dugan (19:48.65), Norwalk's Zurina Immel (20:01.07 ), Genoa's Tatum Szych (20:16.41 ) and Stella Rethman (20:33.7), Rossford's Leah Matthews (20:36.63). Oak Harbor's Olivia Cherry (20:56.33), and Liberty-Benton's Claire McDaniel (21:09.08) rounded out the top 10.

    Genoa's Olivia Martin (11th, 21:13.18), Lindsey Brown (13th, 21:17.4) and Sydney Harp (19th, 22:02.48) also were among the top 20 across the finish line, as was Eastwood's Emily Payne (15th, 21:29.62) and individual qualifiers Kate Cline (16th, 21:41.26) and Emilee Harrwaldt (17th, 21:46.36) from Otsego.

    Columbus Grove District

    COLUMBUS GROVE, Ohio — Napoleon (81) advanced to regionals at Columbus Grove High School, finishing third behind Ottawa-Glandorf (69) and Kenton (79). Also advancing was fourth-place Lima Bath (114). Wauseon (185) was eighth.

    Wauseon's Ella Rhoades (18:03.76) was the top individual with O-G's Anna Buddelmeyer (18:44.9) second.

    Gwen Huddle (sixth, 18:56.62) led Napoleon. Bryan's Kate Thormeier (fifth, 18:50.57) and Nicolette Stickney (eighth, 19:00.53) advanced individually to regionals.

    Division III

    Liberty Center District

    NAPOLEON — Ottawa Hills (65) was the team champ with Patrick Henry (86), Liberty Center (93), Sherwood Fairview (103), Archbold (123), and Pettisville (136) also nabbing regional berths at Leaders Farms.

    Holgate (ninth, 248), Fayette (10th, 257), Toledo Christian (11th, 267), Evergreen (15th, 393), and Montpelier (16th, 453) were among those also posting team totals.

    Patrick Henry's Mia Amador (18:37.59) was the individual winner. Pettisville's Kendall Sears (19:09.69) finished second. Archbold's Hadley Hudson (third, 19:22.25), Liberty Center's Colbie Strayer (fourth, 19:32.07), Maumee Valley's Isabella Stueve (sixth, 19:58.95), Fayette's Addison Schang (eighth, 20:08.39), and Ottawa Hills' Natalie Nixon (ninth, 20:09.27) also were among the top 10.

    Ottawa Hills' Emily Chen (11th, 20:31.63 ), Mercy Alamina (16th, 20:37.62), Freya Klaas (18th, 20:39.18), Elsa Klaas (20th, 20:41.97), and Evelyn Sandretto (21st, 20:42.18) were top 24 performers along with Patrick Henry's Karlie Gubernath (15th, 20:36.47), Liberty Center's Ryley Miller (17th, 20:38.68), Alli Johnson (23rd, 20:45.66), and Ryanna Groth (24th, 20:50.17), and Archbold's Natalie Schmucker (22nd, 20:43.86).

    Hilltop's Emily Suydam (13th, 20:34.59) and Northwood's Miriam Fowler (19th, 20:41.43) were among the individuals advancing.

    Findlay District

    FINDLAY — Van Buren (79) was second behind Riverdale (58) at Owens Community College’s Findlay campus. Elmwood (99), Delta (119) and Gibsonburg (134) also advanced to regionals. Lakota (10th, 210) and North Baltimore (11th, 232) also had team scores.

    Delta’s Josilyn Welch (18:44.42) was the individual champ. Elmwood’s Alayna Beasley (third, 19:26.69) and Laura Tanner (ninth, 20:26.18), Gibsonburg’s Mary Myerholtz (seventh, 20:06.90), and Van Buren’s Lily Grady (20:40.62) also were in the top 10.

    Individual qualifier Vivian Eckloff (11th, 20:49.72) of Emmanuel Christian, Van Buren’s Olivia Coutinho (13th, 21:03.42) and Rylee Orchard (19th, 21:49.38), Delta’s Paige Hosler (14th, 21:04.45) and Sydnie Whitinger (20th, 21:56.61), Elmwood’s Grace Morgart (15th, 21:18.43) and Gibsonburg’s Macey Kohler (18th, 21:41.99) also were among the top 20.
