19-year-old motorcyclist dies in Statesville crash: SHP

STATESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The N.C. State Highway Patrol (NCSHP) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred Saturday.

Around 11 a.m., NCSHP responded to N.C. 115 near Ella Kay Lane in Iredell County.

Officials say a 2005 Honda motorcycle was traveling north on the highway when it attempted to pass a 1969 Chevrolet logging truck in a no-passing zone. As the truck turned left into the Progressive Power Equipment & Landscape parking lot, the motorcyclist struck a log extending off the back of the trailer.

The driver of the motorcycle, Keaton Stone McGlamery of Statesville was thrown from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

The driver of the logging truck was not injured.

N.C. 115 was partially closed in the area for two hours during the on-scene investigation. The initial investigation concluded that excessive speed and improper passing were contributing factors in the collision.

No charges will be filed in this case, according to NCSHP.
